Empowerment Moments Year 2012 Review - From Tragedy To Triumph

Hurricane Sandy pic
Over the past months of this year, there was hardly a moment that we were not greeted with some form of tragic news - whether by television, radio, newspaper, internet, you name it. While many of those stories though tragic, have touched our hearts with grief and sadness, there were those miraculous and heartwarming moments, that have propelled/pioneered change and have even caused many to take another look at the way we conduct ourselves and business in our daily lives. For the mention in this column today I am certain that our hearts will once again be blessed.

Never Despise A Small Beginning In Life
This one speaks to this Blog. Scripture teaches this very basic yet profound principle that we are never to despise our small humble beginning. No doubt, it can be rough at the start but if we remain faithful even through life's challenging and difficult times, we will one day emerge from the 'rubble' onto a journey of faith and true happiness. From a place of rock bottom (adversity, trials, persecution and rejection) when I began my Blog, I've learned that true happiness is never determined by the circumstances that we face each day, but true happiness comes from God, from having a desire for Him and His word, and doing what He requires us to do (pursuing our calling). Blogging while it brings happiness to my life, it allows me the opportunity to share messages of hope and the good news of the gospel with so many into over 50 countries/nations around the world. "True Happiness" posted January 10th 2012

May The Joy Of Christmas Fill Your Heart And Lives

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.....Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." ~ (Matthew 1: 21, 21)

May the joy of Christmas fill your heart and lives. May the peace that the birth of Jesus brings overshadow you and fill your hearts and homes. While we celebrate with family and friends - the Christmas Tree, gifts, food, fun, laughter, let us not forget the real reason and the meaning of Christmas Day.

The birth of Christ over 2000 years ago heralded a new era. A time of peace, hope and God's promise/s to us as humanity. It was and still is a remarkable evidence of God's love and care for us. It is God's best gift to us. It is as the scripture says, JESUS, Emmanuel - God with us.

Your Forces And How To Use Them by Christian D. Larson - Guest Article

"Promise yourself

To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity

To make all your friends feel

He Restoreth All Things

"Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free Spirit." ~ Psalm 51:12 "He restoreth my soul..." Psalm 23:3 In a fractured world, filled with brokenness - broken dreams, broken systems, broken relationships, just to mention a few; restoration is a much needed experience. Sadly, many places once considered peaceful and much sought after as iconic and great travel destinations, are now witnessing at an unprecedented rate strife, wars and confusion in their land.

We take a telescopic view into the Middle East where talks of peace are never ending but for the most part is, seemingly, falling on deaf ears. Every day we witness bible prophecy being fulfilled where nations continue to rise up against nations and, in the midst of an ongoing civil war, the looming threat of chemical weapons sits as a 'black hawk' waiting the day when its' evil master gives it its signal for execution of diabolical duties.

"Purpose" by Yolanda Banks

This was certainly not my topic for today and what I'm about to post, the person behind it has no earthly idea that I am about to do it. But I must follow the leading of God's Spirit and His voice within me to feature this brief but to the point article called "Purpose" by Yolanda Banks of The Guardian Angel Who Had A Loud Voice Blog. It is short but beautifully written and so relevant to what is happening today. It reads as follows:

Prayer For The Families Of Newtown Connecticut

Dear God, words cannot begin to express the grief, the sadness and the lost that is felt by so many families across the nation and the global stratosphere who are left in shock and are mourning the lost of their loved ones who were violently killed yesterday at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, Newtown Connecticut. We ask, why? but only you have the answers. Hearts feel the magnitude of the pain as each one bleed internally by that senseless tragedy and cowardly act of evil that was visited upon the nation. Lord please extend your blanket of mercy and compassion upon each one. Give them strength and courage to embrace life as something beautiful that you have given to each one of us and free them to go forth and not be in fear.

Word Of Inspiration - You Have The Power

"Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." ~ Matthew 18:18 This is one of two verses that falls directly under God's law as "The law of prohibiting and permitting." Within the context, the word [whatsoever] means all things that you take under your possession, be it good or evil. The word itself has a doubled-edged sword reverse effect! It means that once you begin to exercise your authority under this law, you speaking to whatever it is and giving it the command to cease to exist in the earth, in your life or in your situation, heaven has already endorsed it and that you being created in the image and likeness of God is speaking in the earth what was already the mind of God.

Thought For Today - Builders Of Your Own Character

"....we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience: And patience experience: and experience hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because of the love of God shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost." - Romans 5:3-5

"We are builders of our own character. We have different positions, spheres, capacities, privileges, different work to do in the world, different temporal fabrics to raise; but we are all alike in this - all are architects of fate." ~ John Fothergill Waterhouse Ware

Have a blessed day everyone!

Just Laugh For The Joy Of It

"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven...A time to cry and a time to LAUGH. A time to grieve and a time to dance." Ecclesiastes 3: 1,4 (NLT) There was a time in my life that some very simple challenges in life that came my way would cause me to freak out. I was so serious and you guessed right, I took everything very serious. I just did not know what it meant to be funny - to have joy and laughter in my life. To a large extent, the environment in which I grew up in shaped my behavior. Then experiences with some bad relationships compounded the matter and that caused me to often beat up on myself.

Prior to me accepting Christ as my Lord and Savior up to the time of my deliverance, anxiety and fear were my companions. Without Christ in my life, I was really in darkness and so I thought they were my friends. Everywhere I went, they were there, until that is, the light of Jesus penetrated my spirit and awakened my soul with joy and laughter and for me to come out from among that darkness.

Trust Him Even When You Can't Trace Him

"The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all." ~ (Psalm 34: 18-19) Recently I have been getting these nudges that would cause me to push aside regular articles and post a prayer instead. I do not want to make light of it or ignore my deep intuition because I understand the way that God works, there is no distance in prayer. God knows us more than we know ourselves. He understands our thoughts from afar off. He knows when there is difficulty in our lives even when we choose to keep it to ourselves instead of sharing it with others.

Many times we become saddened by situations, we cry and we water our bed with tears. God sees and He understands. And while I may not be the one that is hurting today, I know there is someone out there who is. So in obedience, here is my prayer:

Glam Destination Weddings

Thinking of getting married in the Caribbean? Well, from the 'List of things to do' to the "I do's" Glam Destination Weddings on the beautiful island paradise of St. Kitts is here to help you every step of the way. We are a destination wedding planning company whose purpose is to assist couples with the design, implementation and coordination of the big day. In our eyes we would have succeeded once the bride, the groom and their families are left feeling stress free. Even more importantly, our goal is to ensure that the couple and their families remember the day forever.

What's Ahead Of You Is Better Than What's Been

In spite of what forecasters say, I am optimistic about the future of what lies ahead. Deep within me is that strong conviction of great expectation. I am anticipating the best of what God has - it is about to come. Regardless of all that may have transpired over the past year/s: high and lows; good times and bad times; laughter or tears; success or failure; mountain top or valley experiences; sunshine or rain. So where does this deep conviction come from, you might ask? Well in case that was a questionable thought of yours, it would be most beneficial to all of us if I shared it with you.

My Earnest Prayer For You

Each and everyone of us is going through some issues right now, but God is getting ready to bless us in a way like only He can. About two years ago, a dear friend of mine sent me this prayer via email. It blessed my heart tremendously and I have seen fruits of it, just believing God through faith based on what is written in the prayer. I share it with you and trust that you too will come to believe God for all things good and perfect.

An unknown Author's Prayer

Because you will see the invisible, you will do the impossible,,
Because you will touch the intangible you will achieve the incredible..
Because you will hear the inaudible, you will have the unimaginable.
Because of you, your family will not know poverty
You will go in and out of your house in peace..
Violence and crying of sorrow shall not be heard in your camp..

When You Have Grace, You Have It All

"And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of God may rest upon me." (2 Corinthians 12:9) When God do not remove from us entirely our troubles, our tribulations, our weakness and even our limitations; yet if He gives us His grace, it is sufficient for us to comfort and strengthen us. It is that knowing- ness of having God's river of grace flowing towards us and through us that we can confidently rest in His presence and enjoy His peace. You know that you have it all in that place in Him. You are not larger than life itself, since only He can be all that, but you know that you are complete in Him - nothing broken, lacking or missing. (Colossians 2:9)

Your Tears Are Never Wasted

As words fail me today by the sudden death of one of my co-workers/associates in the organization for which I am employed, I began to look through some of the many articles that I have written online since I started my blogs. I came across this one [previously posted in Daily Devotionals] from which I was able to draw strength. It is to me a vivid reminder of God's word to us that our tears, no matter the occasion for which they may have been shed are indeed never wasted. So here it is, very short and to the point as follows:

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

In the middle of the American Civil war, President Abraham Lincoln back then, prompted by a series of editorials written by Sarah Joseph Hale, proclaimed a National Thanksgiving Day, to be celebrated on the final Thursday in November 1863. The document, written by the Secretary of State William Seward, reads in part:

"The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To those bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God........

Thought For Today - Never Dwell On One Obstacle

As I sit here and I began to reflect on the hours that have passed in this day, I realize that obstacles are really not what they may seem to be. We all get them from time to time. You start the day strong, things seem to be going smoothly, then the day takes a sudden turn and you are left feeling so overwhelmed. But in that lesson, I find more reasons to give God thanks. In so doing, my troubles can then become my greatest blessings.

Have a great day everyone!

Reclaim Your Identity And Regain Your Destiny

The purpose of this word today is not to pick on any individual - because at the end of the day, I still must allow that which I speak to search my own heart as well. But the harsh reality is that, too many are finding solace in temporary solutions and quick fix rather than seeking long term strategies that will give lasting peace. Too many are looking to kingdom systems for the answers. I really want to encourage someone today though, or rather empower you with the tools that will help you to rise, reclaim your identity so that you may regain your destiny.

Our Roots - How Deep Are They?

When the title of today's column was given to me back in  mid July of this year, I immediately began to focus on my family roots and how far or rather how deep they must extend. It even occurred to me of the strong possibility that while I may be living in the Caribbean that some of these family roots of mine may extend as far as in the African continent. Then as history would recall by the actual events and the many documentaries that have been chronicled over time, I began to reflect on our ancestors of what life must have been like for them back then. For the most part, I tried to imagine their struggles. I tried to create in my mind a mental picture of their hardship as to how they must have been chastened to the ground, whipped vehemently and no doubt violently, bound hands and feet in chains and shackles before they were sold off on the block market to the highest bidder.

A Winning Strategy

"Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear..David said moreover, The Lord delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee."  ~ 1 Samuel 17:36-37 Do you remember the last time you were in trouble and you found your back up against the wall, seemingly with no hope of a solution to bring you out? Do you remember your last experience with that mountain of debt before you or when you were down in the valley with your giants of fear and death standing before you trying to get you to believe a lie that you were not going to make it, and that you will die? Do you remember? Well, I remember my last time! Looking back now, I realize that it was not so much about the size of the giant that was before me, rather it was my faith in God and the one Himself who created the giants that I faced. It was God's winning strategy that He empowered me with to defeat those giants. That's right!

Great Leaders Serve Those They Lead

Behind every great man is a strong woman, a woman of strength whose binocular eagle eyes would be on the constant look out for her man. She stands by him and supports him, regardless of the situation which they face. Adding to that, I would also say that behind every great leader is an extraordinary great character. He has a big heart, a heart that is more about being (his character) than it is about doing (his skills). A great leader have a heart to SERVE. The pre-conceived ideology that a leader is simply someone in a position of authority who is responsible for the results of those under his direction must be looked at as an idea that has lost its power of sustainability. Organizations can no longer thrive on that mind-set. For those that do, it's like dwelling in the comfort zone of denial and mediocrity.

You Cannot Lock Away Greatness

It's a beautiful day! There is great anticipation everywhere - the atmosphere is charged, it's electrifying. The energy flow is unimaginable! People all over  the USA are at polling stations in one of that nations biggest presidential races as the rest of the world keenly looks on, hoping that their favorite candidate would win. After all the campaigning over the past several months, all of the hoopla, all of the name calling and the name bashing, the candidates final plea, the tear shed by the incumbent - wow! It all boils down to this one day, November 6th 2012. The deciding vote is in your hand. You have the power within you to make that difference. What will it be?

But all that aside, I awakened this morning to the sound of greatness. That's right, GREATNESS! It was a tiny whisper, yet loud enough for me to hear, "You Cannot Lock Away Greatness." This scripture immediately came to mind also that says, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." (1 John 4:4)

Word Of Inspiration - It's An Honor

"And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." (Genesis 1:31a) Ever since I was a little girl, I had this deep intuitive feeling that I was special. The thought came about when over the years, I realized how much attention my father gave to me and how much he would demonstrate his love for me. As the years went by, it dawned on me though, there had to be something much deeper than that which I was seeing with my natural eyes, or even the overwhelming emotions of joy I experienced as I grew up among the others.

I got the best of what my parents had. I learned great family values from my grandma and also my mother. It's a priceless legacy they have left behind and one which I intend to continue to pass down to my children and grandchildren and the next generations to come. A bible was always on my mother's lap as she would glean through her spectacles into the word of God. My grandma I could recall walked the streets of the village, her bent walking cane propping her up on one side while her bible, ragged as it was with 'dog ears' was clutched under her arm on the other side to go into all the world to preach the good news. Joy fills my heart just having that reflection today and....

The Weariness Of Time

source: (AP) Super storm Hurricane Sandy leaves behind haunting scenes

First of all my thoughts and prayers go out to all those whose lives have been affected by the ravages of Hurricane Sandy not just in the USA but also those in the Caribbean. Words cannot begin to express how you may be feeling at this time. But may God be with you, may He uphold you in the right hand of His righteousness and may He give you peace even in the midst of this your distress.

You Can't Kill What Has Been Predestined To Live

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagle; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint; (Isaiah 40:31) I got this revelation during the summer of 2011, that Eagles loose strength flying low and is not safe at that low altitude. The height at which they must fly is directly connected to the speed at which they must travel and is already predetermined by their Creator. These birds are pregnant with purpose. We know the Eagle to be a very large, powerful, strong bird. It's a bird so strong that it can actually bear twice as much weight as their own body. So when an Eagle looses altitude, quite naturally, the bird's speed is also decreased until coming to a complete stop.

The Perfect Sextuplets

"They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb." ~ (Psalm 19:10) We've heard of mothers giving birth to sextuplets. For whatever reason, God's divine nature and His perfect plan causes one fertilized egg to divide itself into six independent parts, that becomes six lives. Before you know it, the forty week period of gestation comes to its' appointed time of completion and twelve pairs of eyes as bright as the eagles', looks up at you, and you at them as you beam with great exuberance. They are fearfully and wonderfully made, and in the eyes of their Creator, they are perfect little bundles of joy. But that's not the sextuplets that I speak of today.

Word Of Inspiration - Persistence To Conquer

"The heights of great men reached and kept - Were not attained by sudden flight - But they, while their companions slept, Were toiling upward in the night." ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

No one attains greatness in life without hard work and dedication. To succeed, it means believing God for the energy, for the strength and the grace for persistence to conquer all things. It means exercising patience - running the race with patience, making her your best friend and companion. Be consistently positive! Be consistent with your purpose. Speak words that brings forth life and hope. You've got to want it bad enough to go after it...Tell yourself there is no failure, unless you stop trying. Empower yourself to succeed!

Look Beyond The Dark Cloud

"Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, "There is a cloud, as small as a man's hand rising out of the sea...(1 Kings 18:44 NKJV) Sometimes we look so long at a door that has closed before us that we fail to see the new door that has been opened waiting for us to go through. Then there are times that our storms seem to come to a standstill, or so it appears, that in our moment of obscurity like a 'forever' moment, we somehow forget the weather forecast just moments before that told us, the sunshine will come our way tomorrow.

What's Next?

"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." (Psalm 30:5) This is a very widely used bible verse, a phrase most often connected to a situation, weeping through hard times, with the sort of hope that 'this too shall pass.' And nothing is scripturally wrong with that interpretation, since generally speaking, the truth is that, this too shall surely pass even if it has to do with the anger of the Lord which is what the entire verse reads. "For his anger endureth but a moment, in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."

Don't Talk To Me!

"And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force." (Matthew 11:12) At whose hands does the kingdom of heaven suffer violence? How much longer will the kingdom anointed warriors stand by and allow violence, death and destruction to come upon our land and plague our lives? From whence did 'it' came? Who is the mastermind behind it? From time to time there is this thing called fear that raises its ugly head and masquerades itself around as an angel of light, when deep beneath the surface, its ulterior motive is to inflict pain, suffering, uneasiness and discomfort among the people of God.

Thought For Today

"Be yourself and not a product of others perception of you. Be who God has called you and chosen you to become in Him. You and I can do nothing without God. It is in Him we live, we move and have our being. If we could get up on any day on our own, do things on our own and in our own strength, solve every problem that comes our way, then there will be no need for God. Live every day as if it is your last day while you place all your trust and confidence in Him."

Have a great weekend everyone! Peace, love and blessings! Mwah!

It's Me Again...

It's me again, holding up to you my empty cup. I am not worthy but still I come just needing to be in the stillness of your presence and to feel your touch. It's the place where I gain insight and understanding....the only place where I don't feel judge, uncared for or neglected.

It's me again, reaching for your outstretched arms. The place where I am sure no one can do me harm. Feeling overwhelmed with the obstacles I was given in my life this day....why did it not go my way? The trials I find to be unfair and harsh...but yet I must remain strong in the face of adversity. I come to you, because in you I am comforted, strengthened and accepted.

Word Of Inspiration: Believe In Yourself

"And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; And he shall make him of  quick understanding  in the fear of the Lord.." (Isaiah 11:1-3a) Believe in yourself even when others don't! Believe that God's Spirit is resting upon you and that you have His Spirit dwelling within you. Believe that you have the creative ability, and the gifts of God to do what He has purposed you to do and ordained for your life. You are more powerful than you know for surely you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you. No one else on earth can use your ability but you - and you have what it takes to do it!

Grace To Get You Through

Job said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised." (Job 1:21)

Rick Warren wrote, "Grief is a part of life, but you can't let a season of grief turn into a lifestyle of grief. At some point you have to let it go."

I awakened a few hours ago to the sound of a mother's whaling cries. It did not take long to realize that the cries were those of my neighbour who only 72 hours prior to that, bent over her porch with a wide grin on her face giving congratulations to my young daughter on becoming a first time mother and to me on becoming a first time grandma... She was clearly very excited, as evidenced by what she said, in part, "Congratulations! I am so happy for you all....."

Thought For Today

"Don't ever try to understand everything-
some things will just never make sense.
Don't ever be reluctant to show your feelings -
when you're happy, give in to it!
When you're not, live with it.
Don't ever be afraid to try to make things better -
you might be surprised at the results.
Don't ever take the weight of the world on your shoulders.....
Don't ever feel threatened by the future -
take life one day at a time."
Douglas Pagels

No Cross, No Crown

Have you ever heard any of these sayings? "No cross, no crown. No mess, no message. No test, no testimony. No pain, no gain. To gain something, I must loose something. In order for life to spring forth, something must die.Your deepest valley brings you to your highest mountain." I believe we have heard at least one at one point or another. To some they may be looked upon as cliche, they are non-responsive to such, they look upon them as nothing too serious while at the same time their attitude is one that is laid back. Some on the other hand take them quite seriously. As if to say, well since God is allowing me to go through all of these tests, mess, valleys and my cross is so heavy, then He must have a great reward at the end of the day.

Life Changing Thoughts

I have missed the count of how many times that I have stumbled and have fallen in my life. I've lost count of the numerous times I've heard the negative whispers of some very harsh criticisms that have come my way over the years. But even through the midst of them all, I've always found my strength in the Lord. He is an on time God and so is His word as He picks me up in His arms and carries me through. I am certain that this too is your testimony. And so today as I began to put pen to paper, the thought occurred to me, why not share some of my best loved quotes in picture form. I apply them to my own life, and I've found them to be life changing. There is so much power behind every word. As I share them, I trust they will be a blessing to you too.

No Sin Is Greater Than The Other

One of the greatest misconceptions that plagues the mind of many believers in Christiandom today is that 'some sins are greater than the other.' This is an age old tactic used by evil forces against the body of Christ, and it's a significant flaw called the 'church folk' 'goody two shoe' mentality, seemingly to excuse some sinful behaviours and practices based on the person that is committing the sin without even as much as a slap on the wrist, while others are quickly judged, ridiculed and condemned. I quickly beg to differ with this misconstrued notion, and emphatically state that NO sin is greater than the other! We have ALL sinned and come short of the glory and the standard that God has set forth for us to live by. (Romans 3:23)
