Ralph Waldo Emerson Waldo on the matter of friendship once said, "The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when they discover that someone else believe in them and is willing to trust them." There is absolute truth to this concept!
The reason being is that, too many times why relationships fail, is because not enough time was spent making the discovery about our own self, our spiritual beliefs and who we truly are as this tri-partied being placed on this earth before moving towards knowing someone else to develop a bond with them. If I don't know me, and understand me, then there is no point in me trying to know or even understand someone else. I am no relationship expert, but I have learned from my own personal experience, that it is best to start with knowing God, our Creator who would then teach all things there is to know - that is, truth!
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness...So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." (Genesis 1:26-27) And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone;I will make him an help meet for him....And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof.........Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." (Genesis 2: 18, 21-24)
Let us love God first and foremost with all of our heart, might, soul and strength and then others as we love ourselves. Relationship matters!
