10 Life Changing Positive Affirmations

Lifting hands in prayer
If you've ever tried to make behavioral changes in your own life, you would understand it is often not one of the easiest things to do. Negative thoughts, attitude and our mind set are things that develop over time. They become habits and are definitely some of the hardest to break.

Thoughts especially are measurable and they occupy what is called mental 'real estate.' They are active and like plants, they grow and change. They influence our decision, the words we speak, our actions and even the physical reaction that we make each day.

Today however I share with you a much better way. It's called changing your life through positive affirmations. It's an expression of who you really are - with the potential to cultivate your core identity and to shape your destiny. I challenge you to speak these things over your life. Repeat them as often as you can and watch your life be irreversibly transformed into the best you.

1. A common balance

"I embrace the fullness of the Godhead in me. God makes the ordinary into the extraordinary while He makes crooked paths straight and rough roads smooth, and the journey becomes easier and all my burdens are made light."

2. I have inner peace

"I have the peace of God within me that surpasses all understanding, which allows me to love and be more accepting of others around me."

3. I am driven to succeed

"A key element to my success is not to focus on trivial and frivolous matters, but to concentrate all my energy on the things I know that I have a God-given creative ability to do. I choose to focus on my passion in life, it may not always be the direction in which the crowd is moving, but I embrace Godly wisdom that tells me the right way to go and I move in that direction."

The Week That Was Series #3 - Exposure In God's House! A Warning Message to the Body of Christ..

For the week that was series #3, I am pressed to share with you excerpts from a warning message to the body of Christ by Ministers Wilbert and Jacqueline Richardson. While it may seem like a bit out of the ordinary and perhaps lengthy compared to what I've shared with you previously, I strongly believe the message has a lot of relevance, and is is indeed a word in season.

"For the time is come that judgement must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" 1 Peter 4:17

[Excerpt 1

"We thank God for men and women of God who have been called and chosen by God to do his work in the Body of Christ, who are walking in holiness, integrity and in the fear of the Lord. Those who are obedient to God and His Word and though they are not perfect try their best to practice what they preach.

We pronounce the blessings of God on our fellow labourers in the work of the Lord and pray that God will continue to anoint, bless and favor them as they do His divine will. Men, women called, anointed and appointed by God be encouraged and do not give up. God who has given the vision will make provision. Press on and persevere, fast and pray for God is with you."

The Power of A BreakThrough

'The Incredible Hulk'
Have you ever watched the old television show "The Incredible Hulk"? Well as you may know the Hulk was a comic book, fictional character and a super hero to the world that was created in 1962. He is the “alter ego “as some would put it, of Dr. Bruce Banner, a physicist. Dr. Bruce Banner first transformed accidentally into “The Hulk” after a blast of a test he invented and “THE INCREDIBLE HULK” was created. The Hulk puts it like this “The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets!"

Strong emotions such as anger, terror and grief are also triggers forcing Banner's transformation into the green character. In life we will be faced with challenges as a believer in Christ. In 2 Corinthians 4:8 (GWT) says “In every way we're troubled, but we aren't crushed by our troubles. We're frustrated, but we don't give up.”

Building A Better Life Through One That Honours God

When this subject came to mind, I immediately thought about a life of success, a life fulfilled and satisfying. I even thought about building a better life of happiness, with perhaps some more money in the bank, travelling to places I've never been and some that I had not been to in a long while. But with all that being said, my little voice of conscience began to speak and led me to this, 'building a better life that honours God first and foremost.

He said, look around you in the world today, many are busy, lots of things are happening - in the workplace,  in the homes, in schools, governments, healthcare systems, businesses and people have taken building a better life to a whole new level but one that does not include God in it. I paused for a moment, and like the disciples of old, I began to ask, 'is it me Lord?'

The Week That Was Series #2 - Life Is God's Perfect Gift

Like so many others, I was deeply touched by the bombing attacks that took place at the Boston Marathon in the USA on Monday April 15th 2013. My heart felt the pain of that senseless act of violence on humanity, just as much as it grieved for the families, the injured and those who lost their lives. Like the millions, I asked the questions, 'how can such evil exist in the world?' 'how can that which God created in the beginning and called very good upon its completion, render itself  into something so sinister and evil in the end?'

My injurious disposition would soon be insulted even more by the wave of sickness that came upon my family, myself included that resulted in us having to go to the emergency room on two separate occasions this past week. Later, I began to second guess myself - what did all of this have to do with the column I had written 'From Broken To Whole'

My very good friend and blogger Chris Jennings Penders left me this comment:

Hi, +Yvonne I. Wilson:
Something in your column today reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
Everything will be alright in the end and if it isn't alright, then it's not the end.

As uncomfortable as I was, I would soon agree with him and began to see that there was indeed a purpose for all of our pain. My profound grief was tempered by the blessing and awakening of God's perfect gift that I believe He desires each one of us to receive anew from Him. The gift? LIFE. God's perfect gift to us humanity is life.

Living Up To the Standard of Greatness Inside of You

We have been cultured into thinking that greatness is limited to just a few individuals or a specific group of persons. We struggle with our identity and who we are, not to mention the struggle within of understanding the dynamics of what we are really capable of in God.

Many of us still hear the voices of some of our harsh critics who try to make us believe that we would not accomplish anything good in life. For a while, we believed what they were saying and by our actions, have not been consistently living up to the full measure of our potential and greatness.

Assuming you were conceived outside of wedlock, the traditional thinking was that you too will become like your mother and will have your babies outside of wedlock and this will pass down to the third and fourth generations of your family. Supposedly, your dad was an alcoholic and a drunk, a son was made to believe by the words spoken to him, that was all he would ever amount to in life.

Words of Inspiration and Hope

We struggle in life each day as we try to process the many things that goes on around us. The answers are not always there, which only seem to compound matters all the more. We look to God for comfort, which I must say He gives. In His answers we often find peace, and hope that He really never give us more than we can bear and that with each new trial He is taking us one step higher and a hug away from His presence. It is my hope then that you would find comfort, inspiration and hope in these picture quotes of today and just like the Apostle Paul to press on and to take hold of that which Christ Jesus has already taken hold of for you and for me.

From Broken To Whole

".....God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God....God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early." (Psalm 46:1-5)

Taking a moment today to reflect on life. It suddenly dawned on me, how fragile it is.

A delicate flower. Fragrance petals. The color of the rainbow.

As morning breaks into day, I smell the wetness of the dew drops. But then the sun peaks its head above in the horizon. Beautiful rays of sunshine, and before it sets into submission to the light of the starry sky, the flower fades with its head bowed down, it silently retreats and the life of the flower is whiffed away into a state of unconsciousness.

The subject of ridicule. Taunted. In the midst of such indignity and humiliation, you appear weak in the eyes of your attacker. Sickness plaguing your body. Sadness.

Announcing Upcoming Mothers' Day Special Blog Series May 1st - 12th 2013

"There is a religion in all deep love, but the love of a mother is the veil of a softer light between the heart and the heavenly Father." ~ Samuel Taylor Coloridge

Hi everyone!

Mothers' Day 2013 is fast approaching and will be celebrated this year on Sunday May 12th 2013. It's a time set aside each year to celebrate mothers around the world and to honour them in very special ways.

We roll out the red carpet for them and from the flowers, to the gifts, the spa, hair salon, the dinners and so much more, they are pampered as we express our love, gratefulness and appreciation for them in treasured and unforgettable moments. This year promises to be fantastic!

Right here on Empowerment Moments Blog, I will be hosting a Mothers' Day special series starting from May 1st to May 12th 2013 under the theme: "Celebrating the Life of Mothers Who Rock"

That's right! This blog is 'rolling aside' and giving it all to the Mothers who are chosen, to honour and celebrate their life in a very special way.

Statement of purpose

For years, women empowerment has been the issue of hot debate in many places around the world, to the extent where women, they are either suppressed or confined within the four walls of the home to care for their families. There is however a notable growing trend, where women, in particular, mothers, are emerging to the forefront as entrepreneurs, leaders, trend-setters, the shakers and movers, not to mention, their growing role as the agents of change in society today. In recognition of their achievements and accomplishments, Empowerment Moments Blog has taken the initiative to celebrate and honor their lives under the theme, "Celebrating the Life of Mother's Who Rock."

Plans for the future

Empowerment Moments Blog plans to make this an annual Mother's Day special celebration.

The Week That Was - Remembering The Baroness Margaret Thatcher

Mrs Thatcher works late into the evening in her Downing Street flat in 1983
This is the kick off of a series that I plan on incorporating into my blog called "The Week That Was" where every weekend, I feature an interesting/success story, a person, special insights and highlights from the blogs that I am subscribed to that published articles that inspired/empowered me, outstanding tweets/re-tweets from those I follow, and other tit bits of interest that took place earlier during the week.

It feels rather special that at the launch of this series, that I am remembering in my own special way today, a woman who among other things, was an Icon, a former great leader - perhaps one whom most will aspire to replicate, while on the other hand one whose mark many may never reach. I speak of none other than Baroness Margaret Thatcher who as we are all aware, died this past week at the age of 87 years on April 8th 2013

Margaret Hilda Roberts was born on 13th October 1925 in Grantham Lincolnshire, the daughter of a grocer. She went to Oxford University and then became a research chemist. In 1951, she married Denis Thatcher, a wealthy businessman with whom, she had 3 children. In 1954, she retrained to become a barrister.

I remember as a youth growing up and hearing about the "Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher. In my mind I thought it to be fierce, a mean thing that persons would label her by that name - yet in reality, it became her trademark, mainly for her personal and political toughness. Later on I discovered however that it was the Soviets who had nicknamed her the 'Iron Lady.'

Education is Key to Mass Empowerment with Chloe Trogden

Getting an education is one of the single most important things you can do for your life. There are dozens of benefits of a quality education, extending to every aspect of your life. In many ways, education is the key to mass empowerment. Here are just a few ways that education can accomplish this for you:

1) It Helps You to Know Yourself

Education isn't just about learning facts and figures. Through the process of learning, you also come to know yourself better. You learn the intricacies of your own mind. You learn what you are capable of doing. You crystallize your opinions, your view of the world, your own code of morals and ethics. Becoming educated helps you to know who you are, and having a strong sense of self is empowering.

2) It Gives You Choices

An education opens the doors to all kinds of opportunities. Maybe you will do more study or research and contribute to the base of knowledge in the world. Maybe you will enter the work force and pursue any number of career paths. Maybe you will decide to become an entrepreneur and start your own business or charity. Education offers you these and other opportunities, giving you a world of choices.

3) It Makes You a Better Informed Citizen

With an education, you can become a more active participant in the political process. Because you are a more informed citizen, you can understand the ins and outs of politics, and you can become more involved, making informed voting choices, volunteering, and even lobbying. When voters have more information, they can make the choices that will influence positive change.

Knowing When To Let Go Is Empowerment

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us." (Hebrews 12:1 NLT)

Have you ever been in a situation where you found it very difficult to let go? Could be a relationship that's no longer working out, or a friend whose values and moral ethics that have gone off tangent and are no longer lining up with yours. Could be a job, a hobby, a habit, the impulsive spending/shopping, ['ladieeees' put your hands up] the past, a food/drink to remove from your diet, or something that's been slowing you down.

If you're currently in any of these given situations, or have been there, done that, learned your lesson and have moved on, then you are not alone - rather, you are not the only one. I've had countless times when I really found it difficult to let go - times when I had to finally yield in my spirit, and make the decision to let go and live, or consequently, hold on and die an untimely spiritual death.

Quotes To Get You Through Life's Difficulties

No one is ever known to have made it to the top or have great success in life without themselves going through struggles and difficulties in life. In addition to those we create for ourselves, life can do that for any of us. I view it like a classroom from which you never graduate from, yet one in which you are constantly provided with the lessons, and the tests, following which, you grow from strength to strength, faith to faith and from glory to glory.

To say life is tough is an understatement. Many challenges are met along the way. Often times the road is bumpy, with rugged, winding and steep terrains that can knock the wind out of your sail. You are tempted to give up and throw in the towel. Here is where I believe you and I will need strength, inspiration and encouragement to help us along the way.

1) Problems and Possibilities
"People will do almost anything to avoid problems. They see a challenge and they run...the secret to success,  my friends, is not to try to avoid or get rid of or shrink from your problems; the secret is to grow yourself so that you are bigger than your problems." ~ T. Harv Eker

The truth be told, there are no shortage of problems in the world today. There are problems in the home, on your job, problem with your friends, your spouse, and kids who just act up, play the fool when you least expect it. Yet I concur, no problem is insurmountable.

A Blogger's Block: 1 On 1 Ways Of How To Overcome It

Pictures of Treebones Resort - Resort Photos
This is not an unusual thing. Actually, it happens to the best among us. It happened to me. You get what is called A 'Blogger's Block.' Surprised? No need to be. You are blogging all along, everything seem to be going smoothly. Some days, there is a 'miss' but most days, you are a 'huge sensation.' Your topic is right on target, you punctuate with all of the key words that sync with the theme of your Blog. And then, all of a sudden, there is nothing! I mean absolutely, nothing! You are tone deaf!! You can't think of anything to write about. You feel like you've reached the end and there is nothing left to say.

The Power Of Believers Through The Resurrected Christ

"High achievers spot rich opportunities swiftly, make big decisions quickly and move into action immediately. Follow these principles and you can make your dreams come true." ~ Robert H. Schuller

I greet everyone of you once again with love, joy and a great spirit of expectancy of what lies ahead for all of us. I believe it is far better than what's been. If you can dream it, picture it, or even imagine it, with faith in God it is possible! That is the power of every believer that we have attained through our resurrected Christ. We ought not go back to what God has delivered us from. We need not become entangled again in the yoke of bondage that sin stained us with, but we ought to press forward to mark of our high calling the Christ and the prize set before. The sting of death has been removed, and the grave has lost the victory!
