1) It Helps You to Know Yourself
Education
isn't just about learning facts and figures. Through the process of learning,
you also come to know yourself better. You learn the intricacies of your own
mind. You learn what you are capable of doing. You crystallize your opinions,
your view of the world, your own code of morals and ethics. Becoming educated
helps you to know who you are, and having a strong sense of self is empowering.
2) It Gives You Choices
An education
opens the doors to all kinds of opportunities. Maybe you will do more study or
research and contribute to the base of knowledge in the world. Maybe you will
enter the work force and pursue any number of career paths. Maybe you will
decide to become an entrepreneur and start your own business or charity.
Education offers you these and other opportunities, giving you a world of
choices.
3) It Makes You a Better Informed Citizen
With an
education, you can become a more active participant in the political process.
Because you are a more informed citizen, you can understand the ins and outs of
politics, and you can become more involved, making informed voting
choices, volunteering, and even lobbying. When voters have more information,
they can make the choices that will influence positive change.
When you
don't know what you don't know, it can have devastating consequences. With an
education, you can learn how to make better choices for your own health, as
well as how to ask the right questions so that you can advocate for yourself.
There's nothing more empowering than good health, and an education can help you
make the choices to cultivate optimal health.
5) It Teaches You to be a Critical
Thinker
Perhaps one
of the most empowering aspects of education is that it teaches you how to be a
critical thinker. When you know how to analyze information carefully, you can
make better choices and can effect positive outcomes for everything from your
career to your relationships to your health. Education teaches you how to
learn.
No matter
what type of education you get -- whether it's a basic grade school education
or a college education -- you have the keys to empowerment. The higher up you
go with your education, the more tools you gain for empowering yourself.
Education can give you the keys to mass empowerment, helping you to take charge
and get more out of every aspect of your life.

Hi Chloe:
ReplyDeletePretty cool write up on this topic. Good to see that you are including the subject of empowerment and how it can really help others. Hope to see more on this so that others can become more aware of the importance of getting a very good foundation and an education in society.
Education is truly one of the keys to empowerment. I am happy that you chose to write on such an important topic. I am one of those citizens who feels that one should continue gaining knowledge regardless of ones age. There is always something new to learn about or to learn more about what you already know. Knowledge is indeed power. Great post!
ReplyDeleteMuch respect and appreciation to you Ava and Janelle for sharing your thoughts with us on this subject. Blessings as always!
