19 Affirmations To Build And Strengthen Your Faith Daily

Hello EMB readers, recently I shared a post with you entitled "17 Helpful Bible Quotes On Overcoming Your Fears." The thought occurred soon after, why not share words of affirmation that help to build and strengthen your faith. The thing is, Satan knows that his weapons are powerless against us as believers. So he uses the only tools that he can to slow us down, which are doubt, fear, and unbelief. And so in order for us to effectively war against Satan, we must have faith.

We must have faith in the word of God; we must have faith in God's willingness and ability to perform His word on our behalf; we must have faith in who we are in Christ; and we must have faith in our authority to decree and declare God's word and expect the desired outcome.

Having the understanding that we are in a constant spiritual battle, the surest overriding factor and the antidote for such a menace is to affirm on a constant basis the word of God.

1.)  I am a person of faith and therefore, I do not focus upon the things that are seen with my natural eyes, and which are temporary and subject to change according to the word of God that I speak, but I focus my attention on the things that are unseen in the spirit realm that shall stand forever more. (ref 2 Corinthians 4:18)

Prayer: Late In The Midnight Hour, Here Comes Your Breakthrough

God of grace, mercy and truth, I cast all of my cares upon you. I come to your spiritual ATM and withdraw strength from you. Let the surplus of strength begin to reflect in every area of my life while there be a deficit in my weakness. I receive the fullness of joy in my life according to your promise and I cast down sadness. I declare vengeance be yours as you overturn every satanic and diabolical plot attempting to cause me to stumble or fall. Cut down every Goliath of hatred, jealousy, envy, and malice and replace them O God with love, peace and your Spirit of oneness of heart and mind. I declare success in every area of my life. Everything that I set my hands to do shall prosper and bring forth fruits of righteousness for your glory and honor.

The Week That Was Series 14 - A Moment Of Reflection And Relaxation

This picture was captured at the end of my work day/work week yesterday evening as I sat in my car inhaling the oceanic breathtaking view on Wicham's Cay. It's a very popular spot here on the island of Tortola, Virgin Islands. During the weekday, many persons, myself included, would come here during the lunch hour to relax while we also feed our hungry appetites before rushing back to the office routine. Others come here and use their time for meditation, reflection and just simple relaxation. Some to read.

It is my understanding that even lovers have also found it to be their special secret place as they bask in the sunset and the darkness of the night. The large sea gulls, they too hang out there - after all, it's a part of their natural habitat. They chirp loudly. They dance their way around on the rocks as if they understand they have us as their audience. They take an occasional dip into nature's over sized bath tub and they even come close enough and wait patiently to get their share of your meal - amazing isn't it?

When A Church Pastor Gets Fired But Refuses To Leave....

In every organization or institution there are rules that must be followed. When those rules are broken, there are consequences - a disciplinary process is adhered to. Many have guidelines set out in such a way that when the rules are broken by an employee the first time, s/he get a verbal warning. The second time around you are given a written warning. The third time around, hey, you are likely to get fired right? That's when employees break the rules.

But what happens when the leader himself do not adhere to the standard rules, or when his leadership style is not only challenged, but protested against? Who is he accountable to? Who takes disciplinary actions against him and who really fires the leader? What should really happen when that leader happens to be the church pastor, and presumably, the church bi-laws were not adhered to but yet he gets fired? Does God want us to take matters into our own hands?

That may be the case with one church pastor, as tensions ran high at a north Charlotte church this past Sunday morning.

Don't Let The Tough Times Beat You, There Is Grace Sufficient For Your Trials Today

"For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." (2 Corinthians 12:8-9)

I am utterly convinced that none of us are given more tests and trials than what strength and grace God gives to us on any given day, even though at times we may find ourselves in 'places' where the odds are against us and the world seem to be frowning at us.

I am of the opinion that successful people in life have failed miserably many times before they finally had their breakthrough. Likewise, those who seem to be failing all of the time was once at the peak of their success mountain before something drastically went wrong that they now find themselves struggling at their wits end wondering when their turnaround will ever come.

Last updated July 24th 2013

An overjoyed Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are the proud parents of a healthy baby boy, and the nation celebrates the birth of a future king.

The couple's son weighted 8lb 6oz and was delivered at 4:24pm today at the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington with his proud father, Prince William, looking on.

Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight, said a spokesman for the palace. Palace sources said the couple chose to delay the public announcement of the birth to allow them to spend quality time together.

The Duchess of Cambridge is in the early stages of labour and was admitted to hospital at just before 6am today as she prepares to give birth to the future king or queen.

Prince William is with his wife at the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, west London, where he himself was born in 1982.

Palace officials chose to make the announcement that Kate has gone into labour public in an attempt to balance her 'dignity' with the fact that social media makes it almost impossible to keep her baby's imminent arrival a secret.

'The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour,' a royal spokesman said.

'The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing with the Duke of Cambridge.'

The couple's child will become third in the line of succession, displacing Prince Harry to fourth and the Duke of York to fifth.

As a result of recent, long-anticipated changes in the law, the baby will also be made an HRH (His or Her Royal Highness) and given the title Prince or Princess of Cambridge.

If she is a girl she will, one day, become Queen, just as a boy will become King.

He or she is also destined to become a future head of the armed forces, supreme governor of the Church of England and head of the Commonwealth, which covers 54 nations across the world, and subsequently head of state of 16 countries.

The birth is also a momentous event for the present Queen personally.

Prayer That Brings Hope and Encouragement

Dear God of heaven, earth, sea and sky - the Creator of all things visible and invisible, the final disposer of all things whether God made or man made. You are the life-line that we cling to today. We live, breathe, move and have our being in you - and without you we can do nothing. Your word declares we are to be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer and so we come to your as believers of your word that all things will work together for good to them that love you and are called according to your purpose. For those who do not yet believe, because of not knowing how to be joyful and patient in their pain and suffering, Lord may you give clarity, wisdom, understanding and the desire to draw closer into your presence where there is fullness of joy and pleasures at your right hand forever more. We will not walk in fear and discouragement, because your word says you are with us, that you will be our strength, our help and you will uphold us in your right hand of righteousness. When the spirit of heaviness (discouragement, despair or depression) comes upon us, we will put on the garment of praise, bless you, give you worship and praise in Jesus name, amen. scrip.ref. The Week That Was Series 13 - Remarks by President Obama on The Trayvon Martin's Case

Several topics came to mind as to what the week that was series should be all about today. Among them, was to do a post birthday celebration article of the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela, the former African President who celebrated his 95th birthday during the week on July 18th 2013. I also reflected on the words written in a blog post by Pastor Tim Burt entitled, "Dear Lord, Please Bless My Mess!" I can identify with it. I am sure we all can. It even brought confirmation to other articles I had read earlier by Rick Warren entitled, "How Did We Get So Messed Up," and "How to Respond to a Messed Up World."

But in the midst of my personal deliberation, I was called into action after listening to President Obama's speech as he weighted in once again on the Trayvon Martin's case. Old folks used to say, and even now I believe people still say this, "until you've walked a mile in my shoes, you don't know the pain that they cause me."

I would dare say, the shoe hurts on the feet of both sides. It hurts on the side of race and colour that keeps on raising its ugly head, and refusing to die. Families, even society are divided over the issues that have dominated the news for some time now, longing for justice to deal with fairness and equity. It is on that note, I bring to you this deeply personal and thought evoking speech by President Obama.

17 Helpful Bible Quotes On Overcoming Your Fears

Is it possible that a man can be wretched and afraid even though he has God for his friend? Yes. We all experience fear in our lives at some point or another. We fear the unknown. We are afraid of making the wrong decisions. There are others who fear darkness and death - many live their lives in anxiety not knowing the next move to make.

But who is he that will harm you? God does not want us to live in fear. He wants us to trust Him every step of the way. He wants us to live by faith. If you or someone you know are dealing with a spirit of fear, here are some bible quotes that will help you to overcome and live a life of faith in God.

1.) "Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." (Isaiah 41:10 NLT)

Footprints In The Sand - What Story Do They Tell?

Imagine the countless times that you and I have left our footprints behind in the sand. Those prints start small from early childhood and they grow over time with the shape and size of our feet. The prints left behind symbolize our history, our experiences filled with joy and laughter and even our disappointments, anguish and hurts. They are numerous and we are still counting as we progress into our future - with occasional flashes across the clear blue sky showing that there is indeed hope for a better and brighter tomorrow.

Your last foot print may evoke memories of your valley moment where it was deep, dark and through the loudness of the silence, interrupted by the occasional gushing sounds of your tears rolling down the river banks of your cheeks, you missed the comforting sounds of the still small voice that was saying words such as these...

"I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrews 13: 5b)

"...lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28: 20b)

Or, shall I say your last set of footprints - you are still euphoric, or perhaps your heart is still filled with exhilaration, wishing you could be frozen in that moment, and that it not be whisked away from you!

Prayer To Release Forgiveness To Others

Father God we come before your throne of grace asking your forgiveness to the men and women who have trespassed against us. As Jesus was on the cross, and He had been unjustly beaten and abused by men; but yet He asked you to forgive them, so God we walk in the way of Christ and ask you to forgive them for the wrong they have done to us. May you show them the error of their ways Lord. We pray that you release them from the condemnation of the wrong doing, and help them not to walk in this transgression again against us or anyone else. Lord release us from the pain, hurt, discouragement and disappointment that the perpetrators have caused in our lives and in our hearts; and thank you for filling the place with the love of God. We bind the spirit of hatred, anger, strife and bitterness that would try to hold on to us as a result of this transgression. By the power and the authority of the name of Jesus Christ, we loose their hold, grip and stronghold from our heart and we decree that by the power of your Holy Spirit that we are set free now, in Jesus name, amen.

The Week That Was Series 12 -Malala Yousafzai's Speech To The UN, The Epiphany Of Youth Empowerment

Malala Yousafzai is in my view the bravest, most courageous, youngest education activist in the world today! And on what the UN dubbed "Malala Day," she visited the United Nations on her 16th birthday to speak about education, women's rights and equality of opportunity July 12th 2013. In her inspiring speech, she said, "I am the same Malala,"..."but nothing changed in my life except this; weakness, fear and hopelessness died! Strength, power and courage was born," showing that her terrifying attack from the Taliban has not stopped her from fighting for what she believes in.

I dub her 'a symbol of freedom.' For some this may seem like a tall order and an unbelievable amount of pressure to put on a 16-year old girl, but Malala has proven that she is willing to accept the burden and to continue to inspire countless others into positive action.

Excerpts from Malala's speech:

Being Your Own Story Is Branding You For Success

"The theme you choose may change or simply elude you, but being your own story means you can always choose the time. It also means that you can invent the language to say who you are and what you mean." ~ Toni Morrison

I cannot think of another person on this earth that I would want to be other than myself. Not that I am alluding to being better than others, but my train of thought and my point of reasoning is summed up here in Toni Morrison's quote. In addition, no one else can tell my story better than I can. I believe that in being me and being my own story, I am also creating my own brand for success. Every day I want to do better and be better than I was before.

Likewise, you are the only one who can tell your story. Whatever brand you choose, it must be one that is crafted and built by the words that you speak and the time in which you choose to say it so that success becomes the inevitable fruit of your thoughts.

Prayer For Your Healing

Dear God we thank you for yet another day and for awakening our spirit to the light of your glory and grace. We come boldly to your throne of mercy, yet as humbly as we know how to petition on behalf of those who are sick and is desirous of healing. We thank you for your Son Jesus Christ who bore all our sins, sickness, and diseases on His own body upon the cross and with the stripes He bore, we are healed. Father God we especially thank you because your grace is sufficient to heal any infirmity and sickness. We give you thanks because according to your word, you cause all our weakness to become strong , and our infirmities to become healed. There is nothing too hard for you to do - earth has no sickness or sorrow that heaven cannot heal. Lord we command every sick body to rise, to be healed and to live prosperously, to fulfill the full number of their days with a happy life. Through the power of the Holy Ghost and your anointing, we loose every band of wickedness, we undo heavy burdens, we break and destroy yokes and set the oppressed free, in Jesus name amen. (scrip ref: 1 Peter 2:24; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Ezekiel 16:6; Exodus 23:26 and Isaiah 58:6 )

The Week That Was Series 11 - Explosive Joy

Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10 KJV)

I received the inspiration to write the week that was series today from a simple question asked by my friend and fellow blogger Christopher Jennings Penders on his latest blog post entitled "What Brings You Joy?"  I must admit that the question took me by surprise. Initially, I did not know how to respond to it, because as much as I hate to admit, it's not something I've thought about in recent times of what brings me joy.

But in all honesty, if I say that I am happy, does that mean I have joy? Does joy depend on our circumstances? Can you think of one moment this past week where it must have felt like hell breaking loose in your life, yet you said after all that you are going through, you still have joy? Can one be so full of joy it can be described as explosive? What did Jesus teach?

4.)  "Find a purpose in life so big that it will challenge every capacity to be at your best." ~ David O. McKay

Prayer For When You Need Courage

God of comfort, mercy and grace - the giver of life, the hope for today and tomorrow. We enter into your gates with thanksgiving and into your courts with praise. We declare your majesty, and that you are the one true living God. We stand on your promised word that we are more than conquerors despite the many difficulties and challenges here upon this earth. Grace us with your presence, come tabernacle with us, and let the fellowship of your sweet Holy Spirit revive, refresh and renew a right spirit within us. We will not succumb to fear of the imminent threats as presented by the evil forces, but we trust in you and remember that you did not give us a spirit to fear, but of power, love and a sound and stable mind. We declare no weapons formed against us in any way, shape or form shall prosper and every tongue that rise against us in judgement are already condemned. Cover us under your precious blood and keep us safe from harm and danger in Jesus name amen.

Random - It's Not Easy, But Looking Ahead It Will Be Worth It

Balancing life with a full time career, my family, running a household, a three day per week exercise routine, blogging and keeping up with Google+, Twitter, Facebook and above all, spending quality time studying the word of God and being in His presence for prayer and worship is proving to be a bit of a challenge today. 'So what? You are not the only one!' I hear you, and you are so right. I am not the only one but still, no one ever told me that it would be this difficult.

Let's talk about blogging. I just completed my eighteenth month blogging last month June and it is fair to say the 'honeymoon' is over. Yet, it still feel so new with so much yet to learn. I reflected on what I learned back in my school days, primary and secondary. I fast forward a bit and came across my college and university days. I cannot recall one Professor mentioning terminologies such as SEO, RSS, permalink, hyperlink,  feedburner, widgets let alone gadgets. You know the jargon and there is so much more in addition to these few I just mentioned.
