WTWS 29 - Look At Every Day As A Day To Give Thanks

I am sure that many are still 'recovering' from the Thanksgiving Day fest/feast, not to mention the Black Friday buster sales. Now I am not an American, [hope to be one day soon *_*] but because of my close proximity to the USA in terms of my geographical location to places such as Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands, much of what happens in the USA does affect us here in the Virgin Islands (British).

At my workplace, we were blessed to have for the 2nd year in a row, Thanksgiving lunch served to all of the employees who worked the 7am - 3pm shift, while dessert and beverage was served to the staff who worked the evening and night shift. For that we were grateful, and indeed kudos to the management and staff who worked collaboratively to make that a reality. Stores on the island who have caught on to the Black Friday concept over the years, offered their patrons discounts as high as 50%. Now that's great, especially in economically challenging times such as these. But here is the point that I wish to make though...

5 Ways To Remain Positive When You're Going Through A Rough Patch In Life

It is a known fact that there are times that you and I would go through negative situations in life. It can reach to the point where you feel overwhelmed by the problems and defeating thoughts begin to invade your senses. Your vision become so obscured that you feel like you are the only one out of everyone else around you that is going through a rough patch in life. You glance across the room and seeing that bottle of pills, you figure swallowing them all will be the preferred way to go as opposed to enduring another day of the pain. Yes, I have been there!

It is especially harder around the holidays because deep within your heart you know it is supposed to be joyful. Yet, there you are in isolation as you suffer loss of appetite. You lie awake in the stillness of the night wishing that the pain would just go away. You hurt in silence and the only sound that can be heard are the tear drops that roll down your face. It is then you wish you had another life, because you are thinking 'the one that you have is horrible.'

Prayer - There Is Peace In Stillness

He says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46:10)

Dear God, the creator of all things visible and invisible, we come to you in humble adoration and give you all the praise, glory and honor. Blanket each one of us in your tender mercy and grace. Comfort us through your Spirit. Help us to abide in you as you abide in us. Teach us how to be still in your presence and learn what it means to wait upon you.

When there is trouble, may we remember that we have the liberty through Christ to cast all our cares upon you and believe likewise that you love and care for us. We give you the burdens, the weight of which is too heavy for us to bear. Remove the spirit of heaviness and every distraction that so easily beset us and replace them with your peace and the spirit of focus and clarity in our mind.

WTWS 28 - Moving In The Right Direction

Well it's that time once again when we recap what the week past was like. We kicked off the week here on the blog with Monday's post, "The Power To Let Go And Walk Away," followed by "Moment Of Inspiration - Make A Commitment To Be Successful." I must say they both generated great interaction and discussion. Just in case you missed them and you would like to read and hear what some of our fans and subscribers had to say check out these links "The Power To Let Go And Walk Away" and "Moment Of Inspiration - Make A Commitment To Be Successful"

Quote that impacted me the most

"I am not a product of my circumstances, I am a product of my decisions." ~ Stephen R. Covey

This quote jumped right out at me! So many times I have allowed my circumstances, whether past or present to make me feel 'less than' and even inadequate at times. But now I realize that while many of my circumstances would have brought me pain, unhappiness and disappointments, just to mention a few emotions, I have the power to choose knowing that my life will be shaped in the direction of my thoughts whereby I now become a product of my decision by choosing joy and an attitude of gratitude in everything that I face.

Moment Of Inspiration - Make A Commitment To Be Successful

"Success is brought by continued labor and continued watchfulness. We must struggle on, not for one moment hesitate, nor take one backward step." ~ William Jennings Bryan

Buried deep within each one of us is our desire to succeed. We pursue it with a passion! A small population simply inherit it and it is passed down through their bloodline from one generation to the next. No hard work necessary. But for the majority of us, we must work hard in order to succeed. Success comes to us through our constant labor, through blood, sweat and tears.

We must persevere. In order to maintain success, it means we must continue to be watchful and vigilant. There is never a dull moment in our lives simply because of our internal drive and our ambition to stay ahead of the game. To those of us that are in management and leadership positions, we must ensure that we remain current and relevant as we lead those who follow us.

We must make a commitment to be successful and continue to stay focused in whatever area we want to be successful in - whatever we choose to do and what we choose to become. Discover your own brand and then brand yourself with it to succeed.

The Power To Let Go And Walk Away

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11)

One of the hardest things to do in life is to let go! To let go of someone or something/s. For me personally, it is among one of the hardest things - to let go, just let it fall apart and walk away. Letting go brings pain and discomfort that we are often times not ready and willing to go through that experience. But what if letting go and allowing a relationship for example to fall apart, it is so that you can pick up the pieces some time later in order that you can put it back together again? It's possible. Sometimes we just need some time apart.

On the other hand, what if it means walking away for good leaving the broken pieces and never going back? No regrets. No hard feelings. You've both exercised the grace of forgiveness towards each other.

It is clear that we will each experience failures, broken relationships, difficult and challenging passages throughout our journey. And within each of those moments, we are given a unique seed called opportunity. Here comes yet another challenge - in the midst of what appears to be a set back, a disappointment, or even sadness, we struggle with what to do with that seed. It is hard to embrace the seed of opportunity given to us in times like that.

12 Prayer Confessions To Give You Strength In God

Dear God we ascribe all the glory, honor and praise unto you. You are the only true living God whose omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence are demonstrated here on earth daily. Our desire is to be strengthened in you, to have a closer walk with you and through your word to grow continually not by our own power or strength, but by your Spirit so that we may know you more and more each day. Let the words that we confess with our mouth and believe in our heart, be followed with a demonstration of miracles, signs and wonders so that these things may draw lost and dying souls unto you when they witness what you do through us.

Prayer confessions

1.)  I am born of God and therefore have the strength to overcome the evil one and all manner of sin and temptation. For greater is he (Jesus Christ) who strengthens me and dwells within me, than the enemy that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

2.)  The Lord renews my faith and strengthens me in my inner man day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16)

3.)  I am a man/woman of faith. I am grounded and settled in my faith, and I shall not be moved away from the hope of the gospel which I have heard. ( Colossians 1:23)

A Difficult Place

When faced with sudden changes in our everyday lives and what one would consider a deviation from the acceptable norm by human standard, it is believed that we have come to 'a difficult place.' And because we are wired differently, and our genetic make-up is so diverse, it is quite natural for each person to respond or react in different ways to circumstances that they encounter.

'A difficult place' for some can be a time for learning and growth through ones own experience. It becomes their teaching moment, a time for serious introspection and an opportunity to either set new goals or re-define previous ones and to develop new strategies by which one can easily move forward.

At the end of it all these are great things that anyone can look forward to. The pain and suffering of being in a difficult place is minimized by the light of the positive outcomes that you can almost immediately envision at the end of the tunnel.

10 Positive Thinking Quotes To Keep Your Life On Track

"If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you will never think a negative thought." ~ Peace Pilgrim

It is not so much our circumstances, but our inward disposition, and our attitude towards them that determines our level of happiness.  It is true that having a positive attitude may not solve every problem that we encounter in our lives, but certainly having the right attitude when problems arise can make the experience of solving them a more pleasant and peaceful one. Your thoughts should never control you, but you must endeavor to control them. So here are some positive thinking quotes gathered from past entries on this blog that will help keep your life on track and looking on the bright side of life.

1.)  Not only do we have the promise of infinite possibilities, we have the power to make the right choices!

2.) We hold on to that measure of faith that you and I could not wake ourselves up and that there is a reason for actually getting -up in the morning and for participating in life.

Prayer For The Those Affected By Typhoon Haiyan

Dear God we look up to you where all of our help comes from. Ever so often our lives are touched, and our hearts become heavy with grief - whether through direct circumstances or indirect situations such as natural disaster and destruction. We are extremely saddened by the report of the loss of lives and the terrible scenes of devastation that has affected the people of the Philippines and other countries in the path of Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda.

WTWS 27 - The Week Past Was All That And More!

Happy Saturday to all of EMBs readers, followers, fans, friends and family! I am praying that you had a fantastic week past and that things worked out the way you had envisioned it would be! And even if it did not work out the way you planned, still look at it as a great week.

Okay, I am hearing you say, 'if you only knew the hell I've been through!' My response would be, "and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28) Just like  a baker gathers and stirs up all the ingredients for his cake, and turns it into a tasty bake, so it is God combines the good, bad, ugly, evil, hurts, disappointments etc and makes it work out for your good, or turn it in your favor! So with that said, the title of today's post,"It Was All That And More," sums up what the week meant for me.

Know Your Personality Type And, To Thine Own Self Be True

Quite recently, to be exact, October 29th - 30th 2013, I attended a Leadership & Management Development Training. I was quite fascinated with the training and what it entailed as I was about to be refreshed once again with the MBTI or 'Myers-Briggs Type Indicator' instrument and about my own personality type. Before I reveal to the world what my results were, I would say it did not really surprise me as much as it made me a bit uncomfortable in my skin to share with others the not so positive things that were revealed.

I had my reservations about sharing. I doubted whether or not anyone would care about this. Perhaps it was not such a big deal after all what my personality type or strong preference turned out to be.

Prayer - 10 Confessions Of Peace And Comfort

God of all creation and the final disposer of all things seen and unseen, we come boldly once again to your throne of grace and the place where we obtain mercy. We ascribe all the glory, honor and praise unto you. You are Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, and the giver of this precious gift called life. In our own respective way, as your son/daughter, we boldly make these confessions about your word over our lives as it relates to peace and comfort and, we declare that all things work for good to them that love you and are the called according to your purpose.

WTWS 26 - An Expression Of Gratitude, Peace, And Happiness Through Quotes We Love

The week past exceeded my expectation! Wow! So many thoughts appealed to my world and while the energy level was a bit different [being my first week back to work from my vacation], most of the thoughts that I had, expressed a sense of bliss and contentment that I felt. I am indeed grateful - grateful to God, to you my family, friends, fans, followers, fellow bloggers and everyone else who have made an impact on my life over time, more so, in recent times.  You are simply amazing! I dedicate these quotes to you and pray that with God's grace, you too can come to a place in your life that you can say without a doubt, 'it is well with my soul.'

Burning The Bridges Of The Past

Remember not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:18-19 KJV)

The past is where I began. There was emptiness inside me. Chaos and confusion all around with no thought or hope of ever recovering. Disappointment, abuse, rejection, loneliness and brokenness in my soul and spirit. I cried out loud but mainly in silence because I could not stand to deal with the pain. I wanted to escape, only that I could not find the perfect place to hide. That's just a glimpse of my past. But now, I must burn those bridges and let them go because my future awaits me.
