Don't Hurt Your Future By Living Your Past In The Present

"Press your way through your pain. Give a voice to it so that it may give birth to hope that produces the substance that you would need for your miracle." ~ Yvonne

If you can select one area of your life right now, whether it be your health, finance, your relationships, your competence, what are some of the messages that you heard from your parents and other adults around you? What are some of the things that are haunting you to this day and how is your subconscious mind reflecting those beliefs back to you today? Negative messages such as: "Men are like dogs, they cannot be trusted." "You will never amount to anything." "You are just not smart enough." "You are so stupid." "Children are to be seen and not heard." "Get out of my way, I can't stand you." "Money don't grow on trees." "Look at you, you just like your father/mother." And the list goes on...

You may have grown up in a loving environment and you were not exposed to these things. But the sad truth though is that, there are many who go through life and are never able to overcome those very sad moments in their life. Those negative words when sown in the past, were the very seeds that took root,  and have formed blockages and is now standing in the way of you being able to fully embrace the future plan that God has envisioned for your life.

It took me many years to realize how much damage had been done. I grew up in a home where I vividly recall my mom and my dad's struggles. I will admit that they never spoke those words to me. On the other hand, their actions spoke more clearly through the voice of abandonment from my dad. Then again my dad whose only profession was that of a fisherman and my mom a laborer in the fields, poverty spoke even louder and it became like a curse in our lives.

"There are no limitations to the self except those you believe in." ~ Seth

Seeing how they lived, I began to formulate in my mind that my life would be exactly like theirs. The thoughts of being like them were subconsciously recorded and then as I grew up over the years, I began to shape my world on the premise that somehow, I was not that smart after all and that I will always be poor all my life. For years I struggled in my relationships, the root I discovered came as a result of the seed of abandonment that was sown into me from my past as a child. Rejection became even more evident.

How I Busted My Way From The Curse Of My Past

Today, I admit that I am not all that I ought to be, but thanking God each day that I am not what I used to be. There came a time that I had to let go of my limiting beliefs. I could no longer accept them as the gospel. They were lies that the more I held on to them, replicated God's truth. I needed to know truth and so one day as grace and mercy was passing me by, I cried out from the depth of my soul for God to have mercy upon me. From then, I have purposed in my heart to pursue life, love and truth through God's Son Jesus Christ.

"If you accept a limiting belief, then it will become a truth for you." ~ Louise Hay

I have made a conscious decision to focus on how God's strength is made perfect in my weakness instead of focusing on my limitations. There are times when I do get discouraged, but God has proven to be one who always exceeds my expectations. He is never late, but always on time!

"I am determined to press my way through my pain, to give a voice to it so that I may give birth to hope which gives me the substance that I need for my miracle!" ~ Yvonne

You can do the same. Persevere in the faith. Dictate your day! Begin to call it what God has already established it to be through His word. No matter what the circumstances looks like, begin to call yourself blessed, smart, intelligent, a millionaire, healthy, and full of life, love and energy! See your life as exciting and filled with God's abundance. Many may have joined the devil and said no, but God says YES to your future, and YES to His plan, purpose and destiny for your life.

It is time you take the limits off of God. Don't hurt your future by living your past in the present

  1. I see so many people who limit their present and future possibilities by focusing on past hurts, failures and disappointments. We've ALL been guilty of it at some point in time. This is a fantastic reminder that God provides, heals and restores. If He is able to forgive our transgressions, then how dare we not do the same for ourselves and others? Wonderful reminder! Have a blessed day, Yvonne!!!

    1. Hi Michelle, more than you could have ever imagined, God just used you to minister right back to me. I admit I needed that extra nudge, the encouragement of a sister who is right there to show me not to give in to my fears, failures, and past hurts. I cried as I birthed this post because I was at this time reminded of my parents who are no longer with me. I wished I could say to them "I forgive you and I love you."

But by the same token, I see how God continues to use every thing that I have gone through in this life to show to the world how much He is always there with us as a loving Father and how He provides, heals and restores.

Thank you and may God continue to bless you! :-)
